Trips & Activities

Enrichment Trips

We are very fortunate to be able to offer a wide range of trips for students to enhance their learning and broaden their experiences. These range from day excursions, weekend residentials and overseas trips.

So far this academic year, various year groups have been to the theatre to see Macbeth, Private Peaceful and The Returning, as well as ice-skating reward trips, and Oakley Adventures

Activities Week

One of our great successes is Activities Week when the whole of the school is engaged in a range of school-based workshops, many involving visiting providers, and excursions to museums, galleries, parks, the coast and theatres, as well as sporting activities/venues. The aim is for all students to experience outdoor learning for the curriculum, to gain new experiences and visit new places. Some of the planned days are dedicated to team building and developing personal skills. Examples of trips are visits to the London Velodrome, the coast, Howlet’s Wild Animal Park, the London Dungeons, the RAF Museum, the Royal Academy, Big Bang STEM Fair, the Science Museum, rock climbing, to name just a few!

Residential Trips

The Winter Ski Trip and Summer Spain Trip have become something of a tradition at Woolwich Poly! Each year, a group of students spends a week skiing in the French Alps and we are regular visitors to Barcelona in Spain where students are fully immersed in Spanish culture!

We have also been able to take groups to Washington DC, USA, Berlin, the Belgian Battle Fields and Paris.

Some of our intervention programmes have extended to weekend residentials at the Kingswood Centre, Ashford where students have combined study skills, intensive revision and team building activities to get them ‘exam-ready’.
