Student Shines in Charlton Oracy Competition with Award-Winning Experience

A Year 9 student, Tobo, has represented the school with pride after securing an impressive third-place finish in the Charlton Oracy Competition - earning an exciting and memorable prize experience at Charlton Athletic Football Club.

As part of his award, Tobo received two tickets to watch Charlton Athletic take on Norwich City, alongside an exclusive behind-the-scenes visit to the club’s media and TV production facilities at The Valley.

During the visit, Tobo gained first-hand insight into the fast-paced world of sports broadcasting. He explored how match day coverage is created and had the unique opportunity to observe the production process in action. He also met Charlotte Richardson and Head of Content, Olly Groome, who guided him through the facilities and shared their expertise on how interviews and live content are produced for fans.

A particular highlight of the day was watching a live interview take place - offering a fascinating glimpse into professional sports media and the teamwork behind delivering live content to audiences.

This outstanding experience not only celebrated Tobo’s success in the oracy competition but also helped to further develop his confidence, communication skills, and understanding of careers within the media industry.

We are incredibly proud of Tobo’s achievement and the exemplary way he represented the school throughout the competition and beyond.
