Christmas Charities

The year groups are once again collecting for their chosen charities

Year 7

Our Year 7’s will be collecting for the Christmas Tree Project.  This is run each year by the Metropolitan Police in order to provide a Christmas present to children in need in the borough.

Year 8

Year 8 are working with Oxfam unwrapped. The charity provides gifts for people living in poverty abroad.  The aim for the year group is to be able to raise enough money to buy a farmyard (£250) for a family or village so that they can begin to support themselves and earn an income. The students will be organising fundraisers in small groups and within their forms, they will be supported by their tutors and heads of year.

Year 9

Our Year 9’s will be providing Christmas presents for the elderly.  The year group will be donating and delivering presents to the elderly people in the local area at Marlborough Court care home.

If you are able to donate suggested gifts could be:

  • Box of chocolates/sweets
  • Box or tin of biscuits
  • Slippers/socks
  • Gloves/hats/scarves
  • Handkerchiefs
  • Bubble bath
  • Games/Puzzle books/Packs of cards
  • DVDs/Books
  • Adult colouring books

Year 10

Year 10 will be supporting Crisis at Christmas.  Crisis are the national charity for the homeless, they provide services to support homeless people to improve their lives permanently.  The year group will be donating food, clothes and craft materials to help Crisis provide for Londoners this winter.

Year 11

Year 11 will be supporting Greenwich Foodbanks, who have supplied 6433 emergency food parcels to people in the borough in the last year.  Over 90% of the food distributed by Greenwich Foodbank is donated by the public – that’s why food donations are absolutely vital to enable them to help the people that need it the most. The year group will be donating food to support families in need within Greenwich borough.

The items that the Foodbank are in desperate need of at the moment are:

  • tinned fruit
  • tinned peas
  • tinned carrots
  • longlife fruit juice
  • tinned rice/custard
