On Thursday 9th May, Alison Cope came to the Poly to talk about knife crime. Since her 18 year old son, Joshua, was murdered in 2013, Alison has worked tirelessly to educate young people about the real consequences of youth violence. Alison told students the story of her son’s tragic death and explained how the choices we make can have a profound effect on our lives.
‘It was heart breaking to discover that the boy in Alison’s story was actually her son. A lovely life cut short.’ Ademola, Year 10
‘The talk showed us that risky behaviour not only affects your life but all those you love.’ Jamie, Year 10
‘It’s not worth getting into an altercation when the outcome can be fatal.’ Gurk, Year 10
