Literacy Week 2025

I am pleased to inform you that this week is Literacy Week at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys. This week involves a huge range of activities for our students, including:

  • Literacy Assemblies
  • Rewards for enthusiastic readers and reading groups
  • Launching our short story competition
  • A book trail around the school
  • Quizzes in form time
  • Online meetings with authors

As well as an array of activities throughout the week, the week culminates in World Book Day, which takes place on Thursday 6th March. We are asking students to decide on their favourite genre of book and to wear an item of clothing in that colour.

Students should wear their full uniform with normal black school shoes, ties (if they wear a shirt) and black trousers, but can wear a shirt or t-shirt of a colour of their choice.

  • Horror – Red
  • Sci Fi – Yellow
  • Adventure – Green
  • Fantasy – Blue
  • Non-Fiction/Biographies - Orange

It would be fantastic to see as many students engaging with World Book Day as possible.

Students should be able to discuss their choice with their teachers and peers.

If you have any questions, please contact Miss Malone or Mrs Hawgood.
