GCSE Results 2021
Despite another year of turmoil caused by the ongoing pandemic, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys are once again celebrating the outstanding success of our Year 11 students. Our results this year are testament to the continued dedication and commitment of our students and staff here at The Poly through such trying and ever-changing circumstances.
Whilst the route to results this year was different, that does not mean that the achievements of our students are any less significant; all results have been fully verified and students are deserving of their outstanding grades.
59% of students have secured a strong pass in both English and Maths, with 29% of students achieving exceptional passes in these two subjects.
We are confident that these results mean that we will continue to be well above the national averages and the top 25% of the country for all subjects. In addition, some subjects are expected to be in the top 10% and even 1% of the country.
We have had incredible individual performances, including Sheikh Ahmed who achieved 2 grade 9s and an 8 in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics and an additional 5 grade 9s. Also, Jason Tran, who achieved 3 grade 9s in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics and an additional 4 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s.
PolyMAT CEO, Mr Tim Plumb, is overjoyed by the excellent results and stated: “Our results today strengthen our continued academic excellence and truly cement our fundamental vision of ‘Success for Everyone’. I would like to thank our staff and parents who supported our students during these unprecedented times and the students themselves who were able to see far beyond Covid-19.
It is now time for our students to build on the resilience that they have developed, to face the challenges ahead of them and to continue to build their futures. We are expecting record numbers of students to continue their journey to excellence at our Ofsted rated Outstanding Sixth Form here at Woolwich Polytechnic School.”
