Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care

Woolwich Polytechnic School prides itself on the outstanding quality and strength of its pastoral care. Our highly skilled heads of year and their tutor teams are dedicated to supporting the pastoral and academic welfare of the students in their charge. This outstanding and compassionate team will ensure your son succeeds academically, socially and personally.

Our structure

Years 7-11

Each year group is divided into eight tutor groups. Students are allocated to tutor groups to achieve a spread of abilities and interests in each group. Some tutor groups will have a co-tutor.

The tutor sees their tutor group every morning, and at the end of the school day for registration. The tutor is extremely important as he or she will monitor the progress of each child in their form and will look after his general well-being in school. Students generally stay in the same tutor group throughout their time in school and where possible, will remain with the same tutor. Parents/carers should speak to their son’s tutor if there are any concerns.

There is also a Head and Deputy Head of Year, who keep an overview of the progress of the year group and who are also responsible for ensuring students meet the required standards of behaviour, attendance and uniform.

The school uses Bromcom where parents can be kept informed in regard to attendance, behaviour and rewards.
