5 or above in English, Mathematics and Science. PE (GCSE, BTEC, Cambridge National) preferable but not essential.

Course Overview

So what is it?

It essentially is a hybrid of old Sport BTEC and PE A Level. You cover five Units over the two Years - two exam and three Coursework. It is equivalent to one full A Level in terms of UCAS points.

You cover five units over the two years:

  • Unit 1 - Body Systems and the effects of Physical Activity (Exam)
  • Unit 2 - Sports Coaching and Activity Leadership (Coursework)
  • Unit 3 - Sports Organisation and Development (Exam)
  • Unit 8 - Organisation of Sports Events (Coursework)
  • Unit 18 - Practical Skills in Sport and Physical Activities (Coursework)

Assessment

Five units over two years - two exams and three coursework

Any Specialist Equipment Required?

None

Key Dates

End of Year 12 (Unit 1) and end of Year 13 (Unit 3) summer exams. You get one opportunity to re-sit each exam. Failure to pass the exams means you fail the full course.
