Success for Everyone

A Level Results Day 2021

Woolwich Poly, an Ofsted rated Outstanding Sixth Form, has congratulated its students after an extremely challenging two years.  Amidst the turmoil, students persevered with diligence and the school celebrates another year of outstanding results, with 71% of students achieving A*-B. Their motto of Tomorrow's Leaders has never been so pertinent.

Kiran, the school's Head Girl, who will be going on to study English Literature at the prestigious University of Warwick states,

"I know that I would never have achieved three A*s at A-level had I not come to the Poly. With the support I have received from my teachers and my Heads of Year, I have been able to reach my full potential and ultimately, I am forever grateful."

Deputy Head of Sixth Form Ms Elliott said:

"I have been a Head of Year for seven years here at the Poly, and this was undoubtedly the hardest year for staff and students. It fills me with such pride and joy to know that all of the hard work has paid off!"

Mr McGuiness, Acting Head of Sixth Form adds,

"There has been a great deal of speculation in the press about grade inflation, but many students' grades have been externally validated by entrance exams and interviews as they are every year.  The students' success is well earned and should be celebrated."

PolyMAT CEO, Mr Plumb, was overjoyed by the results and stated,

"These results are testament to the continued academic excellence in which we pride ourselves at The Poly.  We are elated that so many of our students are able to go to their first choice universities, including a significant number who will be continuing their academic pathways at Russell Group universities, including Cambridge.  Our students will be studying subjects such as Medicine, Dentistry, Maths, Engineering and Veterinary.  This is a fantastic set of results for both the school and the Royal Borough of Greenwich.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, our Trustees and Governors, and, of course, the students themselves for their sheer determination and hard work!"

GCSE Results Day 2021

Despite another year of turmoil caused by the ongoing pandemic, Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys are once again celebrating the outstanding success of our Year 11 students. Our results this year are testament to the continued dedication and commitment of our students and staff here at The Poly through such trying and ever-changing circumstances.

Whilst the route to results this year was different, that does not mean that the achievements of our students are any less significant; all results have been fully verified and students are deserving of their outstanding grades.

59% of students have secured a strong pass in both English and Maths, with 29% of students achieving exceptional passes in these two subjects.

We are confident that these results mean that we will continue to be well above the national averages and the top 25% of the country for all subjects. In addition, some subjects are expected to be in the top 10% and even 1% of the country.

We have had incredible individual performances, including Sheikh Ahmed who achieved 2 grade 9s and an 8 in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics and an additional 5 grade 9s. Also, Jason Tran, who achieved 3 grade 9s in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics and an additional 4 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s.

PolyMAT CEO, Mr Tim Plumb, is overjoyed by the excellent results and stated:

“Our results today strengthen our continued academic excellence and truly cement our fundamental vision of ‘Success for Everyone’. I would like to thank our staff and parents who supported our students during these unprecedented times and the students themselves who were able to see far beyond Covid-19.

It is now time for our students to build on the resilience that they have developed, to face the challenges ahead of them and to continue to build their futures. We are expecting record numbers of students to continue their journey to excellence at our Ofsted rated Outstanding Sixth Form here at Woolwich Polytechnic School.”
