The Design and Technology department (D&T) at Woolwich Polytechnic School, part of PolyMAT, have teamed up with makers around the UK via 3Dcrowd.uk to help produce much needed PPE after seeing the call to arms on social media.
Due to PPE supply constraints, PPE has not been readily available for key workers, but since the movement began, hundreds of the visors have been requested by front-line staff.
Using existing resources, with extra ordered, Woolwich Poly's D&T department is committing to 3D print more visors, contributing and hopefully helping ease the anxiety of NHS staff who have made these requests.
The CEO of PolyMAT, Tim Plumb said he is
"extremely proud of the entire team and thrilled that the school has been able to contribute to the fight against this terrible virus."
Head of D&T, Jen Ward said
"hopefully this initiative will help to support local front-line healthcare staff in saving lives in the local community”
